just got this email! This is GREAT NEWS for the conservatives!!

In New York's 23rd Congressional District, Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava has withdrawn from the race, leaving only the conservative, Doug Hoffman, versus the Democrat, Bill Owens.

The Republican Establishment in Washington, D.C. spent over $900,000.00 to elect Dede Scozzafava, who today abandons the race.

How much more impact could that money have had if the GOP had listened to its base?

Relationships between the Republican establishment in Washington and the conservative movement are in rubble. Thanks to Pete Sessions, Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, NOT Doug Hoffman, there is new inspiration for a third party movement to challenge the GOP - a movement that will only help the Democrats.

Good men in the GOP are now going to be challenged in primaries because of the ill-will the NRCC has generated in New York's 23rd Congressional District.

Make no mistake about it, the NRCC and the RNC must shoulder the blame for this fiasco. As has now been reported and confirmed, it was the Beltway Elite who pressured the New York GOP to choose Scozzafava.

I have said all along that victory for the GOP base in NY-23 was a Scozzafava defeat. We should, however, rally to Doug Hoffman and help him win. Notwithstanding that, the time is now to be magnanimous in victory, but we must demand accountability.

Someone, more than one person, must be fired for the Republican botching of NY-23. Heads must roll lest this happen again.

One thing the GOP needs to do in addition to not being "Democrat Lite": get rid of Michael Steele. He is not doing the job that needs to be done if there is to be any hope that the GOP can turn things around in 2010 and stop Obama and Co. I am convinced that Steele is either hopelessly accommodating re the Democrats, or incompetent, or both.

I had high hopes for steeele, but he is just not going in the right direction.

I saw that news this morning as well. We've been hearing on local talk radio how the RNC picked a dang liberal to attempt to win in NY. It appears that the 23rd district has chosen Conservatism instead! I like it... The last poll showed the Democrat at 36%, the Republican at 20% and the Conservative Party runner at 35%. It's sure to go to Hoffman now!

So if you are a no compromise, clinging to God and Guns, Conservative, you are a conservative activist. I don't mind being an activist but somehow, I don't think they mean it in a good way.

I know Dede Scozzafava would liike to blame her war chest or lack there of. She'd love to blame Sarah Palin and other conservatives who endorsed her rival. She'd like to blame dirty tricks, lies and damn lies. The truth is somewhat more of a razors edge however. The truth is she was a fence sitting, Democrat. A middle of the road, not hot not cold, Moderate.

Well. . . We don't need no stinking moderates. We want purity. Staunch Conservative values and votes. Gingrich endorsed her because he thought she was more electable, not because she was the best candidate for the Conservative people. That should tell you all you need to know about Newt.


Rally round the flag, Heed the call to battle, stand tall, stand firm. Say NO to socialism and political thuggery.

I just hope the people who were supporting Scozzafava won't now support the democrat.

I can't believe after the elections last fall that the GOP still doesn't get it. Polls indicate that the people in this country want conservatives, not liberals, in office, yet they keep pandering to the left.

If the GOP had kept to the path they outlined when they took the House of Representatives in 1994 (ironically, when Gingrich became Speaker) with the "Contract with America" they would never have gotten in this fix. But they let ol' "Slick Willy"con them and outflank them, and ever since then, between their own fecklessness and the media's tearing down any conservatives, we have wound up with a bunch of RINO's.

I do see some hope in that based on how the Tea Party movement is performing, a lot of us are refusing to let the media pick who can and cannot run effectively. If we can prevent the media and the Democrats from "Quayle-izing" any candidates they perceive to be conservatives, we can still turn this around.

A Democratic source said that Scozzafava and her husband, Ronald P. McDougall, met with U.S. Rep. Steve Israel, D-Huntington, and state Democratic Committee Chairwoman June F. O'Neill at a restaurant in Gouverneur on Saturday afternoon to discuss the endorsement.

Even at a loss the outcome is the same as if Scofazzo or whatever her name is would have one. She would have voted for all the democrat bills in front of her. So one less Rino and one more adversary we at least know is an adversary.
