I'm going on my first goose hunt in January. Can somebody tell me what size of shot I should be using. I'm using a 12 gauge semi-auto and am looking for 3" shells (non-toxic).
Thanks, John

I always run BB through my gun on the goosers. I've found that Federal Black Cloud is pretty much like throwing a 10 lb hammer at the birds. It gets the job done.

If you are willing to spend the money, get Hevi-Shot or one of the other "heavier than lead" non-toxic shells in #2. They are much better than any steel. If you don't want to spend the extra bucks on it, go with steel in BB or BBB. I don't recommend anything smaller.

Good advice posted on shot size already. I use BBB steel. Where are you hunting in Jan?

Terry P,
We're hunting in Oregon. Not sure of the city at this point. My son is booking the hunt. John
