Just bought a Stevens 416 .22 training rifle. US marked, heavy barrel, micrometer sights. Made approx 1942. It's got factory scope blocks attached to the barrel and receiver. they're narrow with a half moon cut on one side and a small hole on the other. Any idea what scope and rings belong on this rifle? The rifle is very heavily built, and has a cartouched walnut stock. Made to last a hundred years. Very accurate. It has a Savage clip which functions fine but if anyone has a Stevens clip, for sale, let me know.

The blocks you are looking at are for a long tube target scope. These are standardized, and the "eyebrow" cut you refer to designate a rimfire application. The rings they fit are found on Unertl, Lyman target spot, Redfield 3200, Flecker, Davis optical.....ect.. All these now somewhat old target scopes will fit those block. Centerfire blocks dont have the eyebrow cut, they have a half cylinder type cut the screws in the rings lock into, to prevent recoil from moving the scope on the blocks.
Hope this helps, Kirk |
