No worries, Mark.
Fifteen hits to the torso with a .22 would almost certainly put a man out for good. That many holes would drop blood pressure to the point of shock and loss of life. There are two problems, though: (1) getting repeated hits rapidly, and (2) the the time between the "bad guy" being shot and the following drop in blood pressure. It could be up to a minute, perhaps even more. With some really good hits, it could be as quickly as a few seconds. In any case, it's not the ideal weapon for defense from a bad guy. While nothing is perfect, lots of choices (shotgun, for example) will stop the bad guy in his tracks quicker and more assuredly than a .22.

Thanks Josh, It's just that I kept seeing how the 22 LR was compared to everythin else on a one shot basis. I have a 12 gage and a 9mm for home defense. I also have a love for old remington 22 rifles and wondering how it would play out if you played all out. I have a 1949 Remington 550 and a Speedmaster. Both are real sweet on the shoot.

Had one shot 12 or 14 times with a Marlin, if my memory serves me right. The guy never made it out of the shooter's front yard. This happened about 20 or so years ago, can't remember the details. I believe it was just a domestic incident, probably over a woman. I have always said "crack kills" and I'm not talking about the drug. LOL

Bear in mind, the US Battlefield Weapon of Choice is only a .22
![]() .223 is just a hyped up .22 Hornet. --------- Recently in a city near me, an Off-duty officer was at a bar and was accosted by two drunken morons. He retreated out the back door of the bar & headed for his vehicle, but the two men followed, and one drew a knife. The officer drew his backup .22lr pistol and shot the man once in the stomach. He dropped to the ground, incapacitated. The other guy ran off, but was caught later. Moral of the story? It'll do in a pinch ![]() When it comes to .22lr for home defense...there is only ONE pistol that I'd use. The Calico M-110 or M-100P ![]() 100 rounds of .22lr per Magazine says "You don't get to pass GO" ![]() I'd bet on my Bumpfire technique versus a bad guy in a hallway ![]()

Just kidding, I'm sure you're legal and would agree completely that if ALL an individual can afford for home defense is a 22 LR with at least an 8 shot capacity it would in all likelihood be sufficient in "most" cases if the intruder is taken by surprised and does not get off the the first shot. Thump, thump, thump. Yep, that's one sound I would not like to be on the wrong end of.F. Prefect |

They DO have a different feel when firing!A Heritage Arms Rough Rider in Single Action would do the trick...especially if you got the one that has the .22WMR & .22LR cylinders Inexpensive, yet effective...especially with the .22WMR's...OUCHIE.

Killing deer with a rimfire rifle is illegal. That why every poacher u ever meet says hes "coon hunting" at night, with a 22 mag.....instead of a reg 22. deer shot in the head with a 22 magnum fall dead on the spot.

22 supressed pistols are the weapon of choice for Mafia hits. Two to the back of the head, execution style.
