Default Question to ponder

How come you can go to your favorite squirrel hunting place and there will be squirrels alllllll over the place, and go back to that same spot the very next day and not see one squirrel. Whats up with that.

Sorry.

I don't think they are too smart. It's just probably a coincidence.

All I know is that you have to beat those little buggers out of bed in the morning, in order to show up before they do. They still seem to know you're there even if they're not smart.

I was not talented at squirrel hunting anyway.....

you got to have more patience than the tree rat. I belive they are one of natures most cunning creatures. They were put here on earthy to keep people like Tranter and yourself stocked up on nerve pills and bird feeders.

In my experience tree rats visit diffrent areas for feeding daily, it may be one day they hit the area your in thats why you see them, then the next day they move to another area to feed and socialize. if theres only the one area then you may be makin to much noise/movement and keeping them from coming out. or its possible you just havent waited long enough you typically need to be out before they show up very early, and as with all hunting have patience. you can also try the many squirell calls that are out there to try getting them to home in on your location.

It never fails when you go hunting. For instance, you go out to hunt rabbits, and they are nowhere to be found but there is a whole butt load of squiirel in the trees. You go squirrel hunting and not see a single one but there is rabbits every bloody where. It is a total conspierecy I tell you. The little buggers are communicating with each other. Ever notice now that the wheather has been changing that the tree rats are getting more and more active in the latter months, you know why? Cuz they sit up there in their trees and snitch on you to the deer and Turkeys that you are out there hunting.

Sometime wildlife is active, sometimes it is not. I live in the woods and observe wildlife daily. Some time the squirrels just stay 'holed up' where other days the GSD runs herself crazy chasing them. Same with birds. Some mornings I'll it on the deck and am surrounded by birds of many varieties and other days I will not see a bird for hours. FWIW,

Well,it depends on what gun you have with you.I went bow hunting today and saw more rabbits and squirrels than I have seen in a long time.Same as when I take my deer rifle. But if I have a .22 or 12 ga./birdshot then I see all kinds of deer.

Or my favorite thought to ponder. Two weeks ago I went squirrel hunting with a .22lr and saw nothing but deer. Not even a rabbit. But then when deer seaon opened and I had a shotgun with slugs in it I saw no deer, only squirrels. What it up with that one??!
It's been like that ever since I started hunting.

Here is a real question?

Should i get this shotgun rack for my bed?

I don't like keeping my shotgun in the closet (too far away at night) and under the bed seems like it might be hard to reach in an emergency...so i did some searching on the internet and came across the Back-up home protection.
http://www.home-backup-protection.com/

Its only $40 so i will probably just get anyway, but i was wondering if anyone had purchased one and what their experience was. thanks for any input....
