40caljoe, Yep. I let my son(6 years old) handle(unloaded) all my guns when I'm with him. I teach him all the safe stuff. He never touches any of my guns unless I'm right there. I kind of bore him so he doesn't WANT to mess with any guns. Plus Max is more into playing with his DS games and playing on the computer...go figure.

Yours looks from the picture to be a government model with 5" barrel. Commander is 4" or 4.25" I believe.

Nice pistol! I like those new grips. Get yourself a Gunvault, had mine 2 years, works flawless every time. I let my son (at the time 8) shoot my Firestar M45 with me holding on to his hands from behind of course. Had everyone at the range watching us. He yelled "Holy Crap I never want to do that again!" Never seen so many old guys laugh so hard. If you want to get rid of those smoothies, I have a new set of checkered double diamond grips I would trade for them.

bt1911, I just got the grips in today. Thanks. These fit my hands a lot better. How do you like the smooth ones?
