Going out to the range today with my new RIA 1911. Will post some pics of my targets afterward. Hopefully I'll be a little bit better shot this time.

Sorry for the long wait, was having camera trouble. But here's the range report.
![]() ![]() ![]() I got out on Sunday to the range with my new gun. As you can see, I am still not that great at target shooting. Got a headshot, lots of torso shots. Was aiming for the "x" this time. But I will get better with more practice. I wasn't as bad as the guy next to me. He emptied an entire mag out of his gun and didn't even hit the target once and he was at closer range than I was. I had to be about 15 feet away. Then again, he was just some kid out with his friends so he was probably just showing off. As for the gun, I really thought it felt comfortable. More so than the Taurus I shot last time I was at the range. I don't know if it's because the grips on the Taurus were different than the wood ones on my RIA, or if it's just that this is a brand new gun compared to that Taurus that has seen more use & abuse. This trip out to the range I shot these - Aguilla? (not sure what the brand name was) - 230 grain FMJ rounds. I got them because they were $30 for a 50-pack and Gander didn't have much .45 ammo left. But I am satisfied with the gun. I found it comfortable. Seems to work like it should. Everyone seemed to like my gun because they were all staring at it. I guess not many people go the range with GI-style 1911s? Looked like they were all shooting Glocks. Looked like one guy had a Walther P99. Overall, I am very happy with the gun. Is there anyone else here who has an RIA? If so, how do you like yours? Last edited by hogger129; 12-07-2009 at 03:44 PM.. |
