Default Kimber Pro Carry II

I finally found a firing range that had a Kimber Pro Carry II for rent. It fit my hand well, and I had an overall great impression of the gun.

However, the last round in the magazine failed to chamber on quite a few occasions. Do you think this is a problem related to the magazine or the fact that it was a "range gun"?

I don't necessarily think this problem was due to operator error, since it consistently happened on the last round in the magazine.

Any thoughts?

The problem could be,as Marlin said, a magazine problem or a weak recoil spring. Short barreled 1911 style pistols need to have the recoil spring changed about every 2500 rounds.

Unfortunately I didn't ask to try another magazine.

To describe the problem more clearly, the last round in the magazine would chamber, but the slide would not return to full battery. It was a few milimeters out of battery, enough to prevent it from firing (and the safety could not be placed into the "on" position).

Now that I think about it, Shooter45, it does sound like a worn out recoil spring.

Sounds exactly like a weak recoil spring.

Try wilson magazines, that's what I use in my Kimbers. I haven't had any problems.

Is it new? Have you broken it down and cleaned and lubed it?
