Default ANother 1911

I did it again. I bought a Colt Defender on the 7th and at a gun show today I bought a Thompson (Auto-Ordnance) 1911A1 World War II Commemorative.

It was only $400.00 and I could not pass it up.

The Pulm Blueing finish is just beautiful and it even came with the original box and paperwork with 3 7 round mags.

Attachment 33263

Man, this purchase was way to close to my last one.

I sold 5 commemmoritive Colts last year, all from 60's & 70's, two 45s and three .22s . Unfired. Could not get as much for them as the base models sell for. People don't want to buy unless they are shooters, so, as in this case, you can get a GREAT deal on a commemmoritive with gorgeous finishes and grips, gold, box, etc. and go ahead and shoot it! I'd NEVER again buy another com. gun and store away waiting for it's value to increase. They don't, unless.....it says John Wayne on it!
If you see a nice com. gun like this and don't mind ruining its perceived value, jump on it and shoot away.
Nice gun!

$400? Now that's a deal!

I've seen a Vietnam War Commemorative Edition 1911 at Gander Mountain. They have a room in the gun area with a bunch of really nice and really expensive over-under shotguns. They have an M16A1 and an M1 Garand in there also and that 1911. Looks kind of like this one. Not sure how much theirs was though.

Totally understandable why you couldn't pass that up.

So tell me, after looking at if for a mere moment, did they wipe the drool off of it before you bought it?

Shot it today, just 2 mags worth. It is very accurate but has the heaviest trigger I have ever felt on a 1911. After feeling the trigger I borrowed the range's little toy and the trigger is 8.1 lbs.

My Colt Combat Elite was 4 lbs even (more what I'm used to).

Gander...they like their guns don't they? I paid $350 less with my hometown gun shop than Gander price.

And another plus, made some knowledgeable, helpful contacts.
