Default stevens favorite

ive been looking at a favorite.22 LONG RIFLE stamped on left side of bbl.J STEVENS A&T .09.CHICCPEE FALLS MASS. USA on top left side of action.H 7xx on bottom tang.24" bbl.rear sight has elevator.buttstock is pistolgrip but bottom line of stock is not straight.it has a big belly in it.butt plate is bakelight?,with stevens favorite horizontily across it.bore is nice and bright.everything seems to work.any info on this gun and possible worth would be greatly appreciated.

Prices for these on the larger gun auctions are all over the board. (As they usually are.) They run from realistic to absurd. Looks like the one you have is in Very Good (Antique) condition. Auction offered prices run from $150 to $350. My own WAG is that retail price on yours would be in the $200-$250 range. Depends a lot on where you live also.

The standard Stevens Favorite models did not have pistol grip stocks: Is the pistol grip and forend checkered? Does it have a Swiss (deeply curved) butt plate?

I had a Stevens "Little Scout" with a stock that looked like the one you described. Does yours look like this one?

old gun guy,

no,nothing like mine.it had a full pistol grip and the bottom line of the stock from behind the grip to the toe of the stock had at least a 3/4 to 1 inch belly in it.

olg gun guy,
I think that buttstock is a loong way from being original. Crackshots had almost a "flat board" stock. That one looks like it's made out of a fairly nice piece of wood.
