\What are you talking about? That gun would have no more recoil than an AR-10. most of the recoil is taken up by the muzzle break and the semi auto action.

For the last 2-3 years I have been drooling over the .338 lapua magnum. Savage also recently came out with a version. I saw it in an edition of American Rifleman...sweet. Then I looked at the cost of ammo. 1) Lapua .338 lapua magnum 250gr HPBT, box of 10....$64 2) Black Hills .338LM 300gr Sierra Matchking HPBT, box of 20...$120 3)Nosler .338 LM 250grAccubond, box of 20...$113 4) Remington .338LM 250gr Scenar Match, box of 20...$128
Do I need to go on? The .338LM is like Miss America... nice to look at, but out of my league.

Ammo cost would keep me away too. There was a Rem 700 in 338 at a local shop. Muzzle break and very nice Nikon scope. Good price but I would be spending more in 1 box of ammo than I would putting gas in my car for 2 weeks.

I would build a bolt gun long before I went w/ the AR platform! And you dont buy ammo for a long range gun.You tailor it to the gun!

I hae never been a fan of the M16 style platform. I dont care how much they refine it I still dont like it. Its a matter of personal preference really.
