Default Organic Fruit Salad!

This first one is an individual's daily servings of 5 fruits, dairy and nuts all in one delicious fruit salad. It's my lunch most days.

Organic Fruit Salad (means buy all organic fruits and nuts)

1 apple
1 banana
3-4 strawberries
1 small tangerine or satsumi mandarin orange
6-8 green or red seedless grapes (can sub a kiwi fruit here, if desired)
1/4 cup chopped mixed raw walnuts and Brazil nuts
1 5.3 oz organic nonfat Greek yogurt, plain, with active cultures
1/4 cup organic granola (optional)

Thoroughly wash all fruit.

Core and chop up apple (don't peel)
Slice banana once lengthwise, then slice across
Finely chop tangerines, strawberries, and kiwi's if used
Slice grapes crosswise in thin slices.

Mix thoroughly in bowl with nuts then stir in yogurt and mix well. Sprinkle with the granola and enjoy!

Mom's Fruit Salad (less healthy, but tasty!)

Chopped apples, usually 3
Sliced bananas, usually 2-3
Sliced green grapes, 1 cup or so
Zest and juice from 1/2 lemon
Finely chopped Marachino cherries, with juice, about 10-12
Chopped and toasted pecans, 1/4 cup
Small colored marshmallows, 1/2 bag.
1 large tub of sourcream or plain Greek yogurt

Chop and slice green grapes and cherries. Mix the lemon juice and marachino cherry juice (about equal parts) and lemon zest and put all in large bowl.

Add remaining fruit and coat well with lemon and cherry juices.

Add sourcream or Greek yogurt, nuts and marshmallows, mix well and serve. Store leftovers in air tight container in fridge and refresh with more sourcream or yogurt before serving. Eat within two days. Makes enough for a family of four or more.

It's pretty sweet already from all the fruit. This cancer/anti-inflammatory diet I'm doing won't allow any artificial sweetners, or any kind of sugar. I can use a very limited amount of organic raw maple syrup or organic honey and then the fruit itself and that's it. High fructose corn syrup is public enemy number one and sugar is running a very close second, with all the nonsugar sweetners, including Stevia, right up there. Anything that converts to sugar in your blood stream is bad news too. That fruit salad is about the only sweets I get. Torture for someone who loves to bake goodies and likes to eat them on occasion too. Of course, I'm sweet enough without all that stuff, but I still like it.

Oh, I forgot. I usually put strawberries in my version of my mom's fruit salad.

Understandable, personnely i'm in ta the tart side.
Processed sugar isn't used in my house, raw cane sugar.
Generally with a bit of grated cinnamon to assist.
Corn syrup isn't used (gross stuff, never did care for it).

And yes, yer sweet enough with out
