Am new to this forum and am hoping to seek out information on a Brown Bess Musket dated 1809 that I am looking at buying. The musket has all good proof marks/stamps, but what I am most curious about is that on the Lock it has "BRANDER" on it, the manufacturer of course. I've researched it and only found that it was a gunmaker who was contracted to make Brown Bess muskets at the time. The Company is also known as Brander and Potts. Other than that I can find no further info. I am curious as to the rarity of the specific brand of musket, or if anyone can point me in the right direction to find asnwers.
Thanks, John
