Default S&W top break

Hi , I need some help here,Can anyone tell me when this gun was made ,smith& wesson top break in cal.38s&w
serial is 147486 thanks

.38 Safety Fourth Model. Some 104,000 were made from 1898-1907, serial range 116003 to about 220000. The Safety models were also called the "New Departure" (by S&W) and "lemon squeezers" (by about everybody else).

With so many of that model made, value is generally low, but I would put that jewel at easily $600, maybe $800+ due to the long barrel and the grips, which I have little doubt are genuine mother-of-pearl.

Real mother of pearl is transcendent, I have one set on a .45 that appears as if you could dip your finger in the surface. MOP is a thing of beauty, but fragile and getting more and more expensive every day.

real MOP is also heavyer ,and it doesn't smell like burned nylon ,

the other day i hit several 1/2 litre bottles at 50 yards with my single six, one handed. wish i could do that consistently

the same here Jim, I am not realy an artist when it comes to shooting
seeing John in action with the snuby ,hitting the target would take me a few years I think

John , you can buy these guns free ,but only to collect ,if you want to use them than you need a gun permit,
