If you were to use a j-frame .38 spl. for CC, wich would you use? Why?

Out of those I would say the Chiefs special because I have always liked the feel of it in my hands.

The Bodyguard has the no snnaging profile, and the possibility to be cocked for a more precise shot.

I have carried a Chief's Special, both blue and stainless, for 45+ years.

Much of that time using an ankle holster and intending for it to be a backup weapon. All the years on the bench were accompanied by the little "portable heater"! Nowadays it fits easily into my portable Oxygen case and goes with me everywhere.....

I'm definitely a Chief's Special kinda guy, Bear. In fact, I own three of them, an older Mod 36 and two Mod 637s. I carry a J-frame more often than any other pistol or revolver. Properly loaded with high-quality modern ammo (I use the Speer 135 grain Gold Dots), it is a formidable weapon that is easily concealed and comfortable to carry all day.

Nice handgun there, Smash. Did the grips come on it or did you add them later? Either way, they look nice. I put good rosewood grips on both of my 637s. For some reason, I shoot better with the wood grips than with the rubber ones that came on the revolvers.

Believe it or not, those are Hougues that came on the gun. I like'em too. Picked it out from the three the dealer had as it was just a bit spiffier. This was back pre-safety days at S&W, but during the "boycott S&W" days. The dealer was "mad" and wanted all his S&W stuff gone. Funny, he's got a case of X Frames now.... Still picks on me about stealing that one. Seems like I got it for $306 out the door or something rediculous like that.
