I was looking around on Buds and noticed that Beretta has an awfully wonky looking offering, the U22.
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/26548 It got me to thinking...isn't this what the aliens will be using when they land and take over the planet, lol. But it got me to wondering...Aren't firearms as we know it an old 19th century technology? I mean we landed on the moon 40 years ago, and we're still working with technology when you think about it, is nothing more than metal proposition. Didn't the aliens have laser guns in that flick Mars Attacks? I was amazed when the Commie News Network figured out Star Wars technology the last election cycle, and actually had holograms. All I'm saying is that by now we should have glocks that require no ammo. Okay, I guess I've had enough to drink tonight. Just had a little chuckle to myself that I'd thought I'd share. ![]()

In my opinion only an alien could like that thing --- I think it is coyote ugly. It looks like it has some extra pieces that a prop man on a Grade B movie came up with.

Lets not forget the 1956 era Whitney Wolverine
"The Wolverine was engineered by Robert Hillberg, who learned about aluminum casting during WWII while working with aircraft guns and later became research engineer for High Standard Manufacturing Company. Only 13,371 of these .22 semi automatic pistols were made in its short period of production between 1956 and 1958. " Wiki

took me a while to find a gunshop that was not busy so I could buy my Neos. Been a real nice shooter after I thinned up the front sight. Just got it back after having to send it in for a firing pin recall, still shoots great.
If you are looking for buck rogers type pistols the one I have not yet been able to convince myself to buy is the Walther sp series ![]()

i've pondered once in a while something along these lines. not what guns a mexican might have but why have we not seen any relative advances in firearms technology. win you think about it, a glock isnt that much different from a flint lock. they both fire a slug of lead through a barrel with iron sights. the only real improvement is the self contained cartridge, but thats not really a far cry. from loose powder to paper cartridges to modern center fire. basically all we've done is refined the technology a tad, and from the 16oos till now, it's been a very slow process.
i do wonder what guns will be invented. or what innovations we'll see in firearms technology. using plastic instead of wood and steel is not innovative, the gyrojet pistol was in theory innovative, except it failed. |
