Just curious, why is it called the Clackamas? I happen to work in Clackamas Oregon. Just wondering.

The first 5,000-6,000 Kimbers were rollmarked "CLACKAMAS,OR" because that's where the comapny had their offices, and for legal reasons it was best to put that on there. Every Kimber (except for one, as I understand) was actually manufactured in the "YONKERS,NY" facility, and the rollmark was changed to reflect that upon the move of home base operations there.

The older "Clackamas" Kimbers are fairly sought after as they were done with more care and seem to be a much better pistol than the newer series II made today

Interesting, I didn't know that they were ever in Clackamas. Thanks for the info.

Not a Clackamas, But an early 70 series Gold Match. Outshoots Gold Cups regularly.

You mean the ones made today are not very good quality?

Didn't say early 70's, said early 70 series, meaning not a newer 80 series.

I see the Kimbers refered to as Series I and Series II so as not to be confused with Colt.
