Default military history?

I am a new member and may not be in the right forum, I have a Colt 32 cal. 1903 pocket pistol, serial number 187421 and a military leather flap holster. The serial number suggests it was made in 1915. It came from a British WW1 deceased veteran's collection. How do I find out who it was issued to, or it's history?
