I would like to know if there is such a thing as a Chinese Mosin Nagant type rifle. I have 2 Russian models a 1891/30 and a 1891/59. I know there are Polish, and Finnish models but I am uncertain on the Chinese.
The Type 53 was a Chinese copy of the Soviet M1944 Mosin-Nagent. Production began at the Mukden Arsenal in 1953. Models up to 1959 have Chinese characters for the model designation stamped on the receiver....those after '59 don't. Production ended sometime in the early '60's.
Looks like the others here have you covered on the T53 info. The only thing I would add is that unlike the Soviet and other Eastern Bloc models, they are not eligible for curio & relic status per the BATF.
