Default Maryland CCW

I know this has been mentioned before (I've just searched through the posts), but there was never a good list generated. In certain states, Maryland in my case, you need to have a solid "reason" in order to receive a CCW. What are good reasons? I've heard that saying "I work in a scummy part of [whatever] every day, and I'm want protection" isn't sufficient.

Any ideas of what the "authorities" want to see before they'll issue a permit?

The People's Socialist Democratic Republic of Maryland has perverted the Constitution one too many times. Your life and liberty and forever interconnected. Your pursuit of happiness is directly linked to your right to preserve your life and limb. If the degenerate socialist tyrrants in Annapolis cannot see that and you cannot change it legislatively , it is your duty to move out of that God forsacen state and into a civilized state like Florida, Georgia, or Texas.
I am tired of these Bolshevic bastards saying to you that self protection is not enough. Maybe they should walk some of the better (sarcasm) neighborhoods of Baltimore at night and see what happens, and if they tell you that you have no right to be there at that hour, tell them to say that to every cab driver in Baltimore who earns a living driving to those areas and maybe they will subsidize his income!!!!!. They are morons and socialists.

In addition, you will note that Gunfyter has been actively fighting the anti's activity in Annapolis, and his, along with other's pro-active fighting seems to have had an impact. Recently they kept the anti so-called "Assault" weapons state level bill from even being reported out of Committee. That type dedicated work can have an impact even in a Socialist Democratic People Republic like Maryland.

Default In order to qualify...

for CCW here in Never-never Land, you must show documented proof that there is a death threat against you. I'm not sure what they'll do if you don't survive but you never know. Another reason is that you carry large sums of cash or valuables(documented). These are the qualifying reasons for the common folk. I held a CCW for nine years when I owned a liquor store, but I could only carry between my home, the store and the bank. I guess they figured the BG's would leave me alone otherwise. You may also qualify(they don't come out and say this) if you are well connected. My nephews' father-in-law is a judge in one of the counties toward the city and he was given an unrestricted permit without really asking. Overall, we made out fairly well in the legislative session that ended yesterday in that we defeated the proposed AWB. Everything else was just left to die in committee. Our PAC is raffling off a firearm every month or so and all of the money is going to a "Payback is he!!" fund to defeat the gun-grabbers who would dare to take away our gun rights. Kravi, you are welcome to join the us as we continue to fight for our rights. If we knock off a few more of the BG's, right-to-cary is a real possibility.

I guess that the saddest part of all of this is that protecting your life is not a valid reason. Go figure.

Hmmm, thanks for the tips Gunfyter. Sadly, none of them would work for me. I can't claim any reason to carry large sums of cash, and I can't use work as an excuse. I am working with the army and they don't allow weapons...

Maybe this says something bad about my character, but nobody has threatened to kill me since kindergarten (my best friend got angry that I went down the slide faster than he did). I guess I just need to start pissing people off more!

As for the closer one gets to Washington, I disagree. Virginia has some pretty liberal (pun intended) rules and regulations regarding weapons. It's only MD that is messed up. (And, of course, DC).

Commrade Kravi:
Very well said, especially about wanting beer in Russian. There is nothing like a fine Czech beer as your cleaning your Makarov.

Cpaciba,

Boris.

Pojalista, tovarisch Remington.

Actually, the Georgians make some mighty fine beers, as do the Ukranians (let alone the Russians). :-) Most people think of the Russians as vodka drinkers, but I have found (probably because they have marvelous bread) that they have marvelous beer.

-Kravi

P.S. I'm not such a fan of Czech beer. Pilsens (and their ilk) are too light for me. I'm more of a marzen kind of guy. I needs something rich and hearty. Scottish Ales also do me well.

One of my favorite styles of beer is Imperial Stout. First brewed for the Tsar, it is a high-gravity stout with lots of character.

The Czechs are best for Pilsners (named after Pilzn, their city of origin), a light-colored beer brewed with Saaz and other noble hops with plenty of malt character. What gives them their distinct flavor profile is the soft water they use. Pilsner Urquell literally means "original Pilsner."

Not familiar with Georgian or Ukrainian styles of beer. Got any examples for me to go hunt down?
