Default Help identify Ivers Johnson

I have an old IJ, .32 cal, 5 shot, hammerless revolver.. Serial U16278 found under hand grips. "PAT. JUNE 16,96 AUG 25,9? PAT'S PENDING" on grip butt. "IVER JOHNSON'S ARMS & CYCLE WORKS FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A" on barrel rib. Just looking for more info. Anything would be helpful. Thanks.

It is the Small Frame Safety Hammerless, Second Model. sixth variation, made in 1907, the cartridge is called the .32 S&W.

IJ revolvers made before 1909 are not recommended for use with smokeless powder cartridges.

Thanks for the info, Jim. I don't plan on shooting it as the timing is off, among other things. Just an interesting piece.
