Celebrated the holiday by picking up my new Ruger P95 from my FFL guy this morning.
Question: Does anyone actually recommend the Ruger speed loader device that comes with this weapon? Mine has the 15-round mags, and this "speed loader" seems more trouble than it's worth. This is my first weapon that has a double stack mag. I use an HKS loader for my 1911, and LOVE it.

I have a P89 ruger and it also came with a speed loader personal I dont use it I can do it faster myself. Also being brand new the spring is probalbey going to be a little stiff so i would look up the mag and let it set a day or so. and Congrats on the P95

Thanks GG. I keep telling myself, "You gotta be doing this wrong." And you're right, the Ruger device seems to make it more difficult than loading by hand.

With practice, the loader provided by Ruger will save your thumb, if you are prone to "sore thumb" from loading mags. And you can get pretty quick with it.
HKS makes a magloader for the P95, it is a model 940. I use a different kind, there are a few out there.

The problem I see with the Ruger design is that the curved arm at the top doesn't extend far enough onto the round, so when it's depressed into the mag, the nose of the round wants to pop up.
