This is my first time mounting a scope with the Leupold STD Rings and Base. Im a little confused as to how to mount the ring to the rear base.
Mounting is on a Savage Model 10FP-SR .308. I purchased a Leupold VX-III 3.5x10x40 B&C with STD 2-pc base and Rings. When I tried to mount the rear base the windage screws are in the way of the bolt and if I reverse the rear mount it overlaps into the reciever and I dont know how to mount the rings to the base. One way it doesnt work at all and the other I am not satisfied since the gun is top loaded. If any of you could help me with this situation or recommend using a different style base and rings it would help. Maybe go with the one oc base? These are the only styles that Leupold has available for this gun according the their chart. I was very excited to get everything mounted, but now I am in a bind and could use a little help. SWirsty

The windage screws have to hang over the ejection port. its the only way it will fit. They arent really in the way once you get everything buttoned down tight.
When done it will look just like this one. This is a Leupold one piece on a savage short action.

BTW, Leupold makes some of the absolute best bases and rings on the market IMO

JLA, what do you do? Just keep pictures handy for this forum? Or do you have the fastest camera in Texas?
