Default looking for my next .22 rifle

I’m looking for a rifle in .22lr that I can scope (or red dot) I’ve had a 10/22 for about 10 years and I never really cared for it much (it just felt inferior) when I compared it to my Winchester 63.

I don’t want the 63 scoped nor do I want to buy another but I want something well made.

Right now I’m looking for a Winchester 9422 or a Browning BL22 anything else? I’m a lefty so if it’s a bolt gun it needs to be a southpaw model of which I believe CZ offers but I don’t know anything about them.

Check out the "best .22 rifle" thread in the .22-rimfire forum. Some really good options were covered a few days ago. Hope this helps and good luck. OH, and the CZ 455 would be my vote.

If you want the slickest action in a lever gun, get a Henry. Can't beat them.

What's your budget? The CZ would be my choice for a bolt and the Browning is the sweetest for a lever.

Another vote for CZ, 452 American if you can get it- 455 if you cannot. Per dollar spent, about the best you can get IMHO.

One of my most favorites AND most accurate [non-custom build]
is the Marlin 39D.
This one actually went thru a flood, in the saddle compartment
of a horse trailer, in the early '80s. No choice but to re-blue.
The wood still has some black spots imbedded deeply.

I recently purchased a BL 22 and love it. Best .22 I have ever owned.

Don't buy anything before having a look at Zastava's Z-5. Very good value.

From what I've read, the Zastava Z-5 is a good value at around $225. The only complaints were that they haven't perfected the action. Hang ups seem to be common.

I'm looking at $600. for my max and I'd like good wood but I'm not sure if that's doable.

I prefer the Golden Boy Henry but it isn't grooved for a scope. The standard Henry is.

See if you can find the Savage MKII Classic. You might find a left hand bolt. Savage makes most of the MKIIs in a left hand model. About 450 or so, but a beautiful gun and very accurate. The CZs come in LH models. I don't believe the Zastavia's do, but they are also very accurate. I have one of the Remington Mdl Fives, same rifle that outshoots my CZ. I also have a Henry H001 that is a winner. Get it in the octagon barrel. Beautiful with buckhorn sights.

The browning T bolts are pretty slick. But I much prefer my zastava import remington model 5..
