I am very fond of the Rock Island......
It is also heavy........it feels good to me,
especially in a 4".....
BUT, ask your gun shop, they are not friendly to
the dealers, and screw them around on shipping, if you
ever need to send it in !!

Oh I also found some para ordnance 1911's on bud's guns for pretty dang good deals. Factory floor models it says. Not used but handled. Is para any good?
Had a Rock and enjoyed it. The Taurus I have shot at the range. The grips on them are the plastic ones and I didn't like those grips. Good gun though.

I would go with a Kimber over a Sig for a 1911. Never tried the Paras. Don't know much about em. Same way with the Sig 1911s. I'd rather stick with a brand I know or have tried. I found Kimbers to be reasonably priced for the features you can get on em. I always thought they costed a lot more than they actually do.

I really liked the Tactical Custom II that I tried out at the range a few trips ago.
