I understand wanting a piece of history, but for the difference in price, the Mil Spec is the way to go.
Don't forget the range report with the new 3 dot sights as I know your accuracy will improve.
Plus the Mil-Spec offers a lowered and flared ejection port, the raised sights with the dots, the stainless steel barrel, and has the Cocobolo grips that the GI does not.
And when I shot both I always thought the trigger felt different in the Mil-Spec.
I had a Wilson Combat match grade barrel and bushing fitted for me by a gunsmith my uncle knows and now I'm shooting significantly tighter groups than I did with my factory barrel & bushing. Having a good smith do some custom work makes all the difference IMO.
Samuel Adams once said, "among the natural rights of the colonists are these: first, a right to life, secondly to liberty, thirdly to property; together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can."
