Angry Don't need no stinkin' debt reduction

Up to their old tricks.

Senate vote on ‘cut, cap and balance’ scheduled for Friday morning

By Josiah Ryan - 07/21/11 08:32 PM ET

Senate leadership scheduled a Friday morning vote, as promised, on House Republicans’ “cut, cap and balance” proposal.

In order to call a vote at the last minute, Senate Democrats deployed a rare procedural tactic, moving to table the cloture “motion-to-proceed” on the legislation.

The move, hinted at by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) earlier in the day, represents a shift in the Democratic leader’s strategy on dealing with the Republican plan.

Earlier in the week Reid said he intended to allow Republicans to debate their bill until Saturday morning.

"I am committed to allowing a full and fair debate on this bill," Reid said on Wednesday. "I want the proponents and opponents of this bill to have time to air their views."

But Thursday afternoon Reid announced he would no longer “waste” the Senate’s time and would seek to abbreviate debate.

“I think this piece of legislation is about as weak and senseless as anything that has ever come on this Senate floor,” said Reid. “I am not going to waste the Senate's time day after day on this piece of legislation.”

Reid’s comments did not go unnoticed by Republicans.

Ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) took to the floor late Thursday evening and said he was “flabbergasted” and “offended” at the majority leader’s remarks.

Sessions later told The Hill he was surprised Reid had gone back on his promise to allow the debate to run its course.

The measure coming up for a vote would cut spending by $111 billion in 2012, cap spending over the next decade and prohibit more borrowing until Congress passes a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution.

The Senate will convene at 9 a.m on Friday. The vote to table “cut, cap and balance” is scheduled for 10 a.m.

This bill is probably the best option presented so far. Let's hope it makes it through the
senate by some miracle.

Too late, Dems already voted it down.

Why aren't the Demoncats submitting a bill? Y'all just remember what happend back in '32, I believe. The congress was controled by the Republican'ts, the Senate by the Demoncats, with a Demoncat for President. After failing to reverse the Great Depression in 1932 they lost almost all of their power untill the 60's. We must stand firm, take the cuts, bring our Government spending under control, and come up with better ways to do the things we have been doing.

Lamentations Chapter 5:
1. Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.
2. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3. We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers [are] as widows.
5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest.
16. The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

Quoted from above--

How would it waste the Senates time??

The chamber would not have had more than a dozen people present for most of the debate-that is pretty much usual.

Well, we all know that the Dems arent going to support any piece of legislation that limits their ability to steal income from the productive members of our society, so they can use it to buy the votes of our ever growing parasite class.
