Coming back from a scuba trip in Nassau, a Mo. man was found to have a .32 bullet in his back pack and was jailed for four days. He thinks it was from a hunting trip.
That's what we are coming to. Holy crap, where's the tylenol?

Nothing new here as far as the Bahamas goes - I read of same thing happening to another tourist there 10 or more years ago. They found one .22 rimfire cartridge in his luggage.

I hate to be the one yelling "fire" in the movie theater, but this type of thing is what many in our country are looking to bring to our shores. Talks about $1 per bullet taxes, and so forth are all aimed at disaming our citizens. All to many are defending this "idiot in chief" because of his claim of being a Democrat. Others defend him because all their lives they have been taught socialist policy and what he is spewing sounds so "loving and caring".
The silent majorty ( well it used to be a majority) must stand up now, or forever hold their piece. (and brother, I mean you better hold your "piece" and keep it loaded.) People are being arrested for "growing vegitibles" in their front yard, selling lemonaide on thier sidewalk, taxed for owning a cat, or a dog, or ten thousand other things, their properties are being siezed for the common good, and God is being removed from everything in their lives. (When they outlawed the mention of God at our Vet cemertary it should have caused an armed revolution!!!) This administration is circumventing Congress to control TV content, radio content, education content, gun control, and on and on. They are doing everything they can to "fix" the next election. Wait until you see who votes in this next election. Many of your deceased relatives and friends have suddenly turned Democratic and are even now walking toward the poles. Meanwhile, our POS president is doing everything in his power to bring this country to it's knees in order to gain more power. And many of the pos rhino republicans are ready to get on their knees and kiss anything that comes there way to ensure they stay in power. boys and girls, keep your powder dry and brace yourselves. bad times are coming. God bless the USA. |

Well, was it a "bullet" or was it a cartridge ? A world of difference betwixt the two !
Presumming it was a cartridge, its like having just a "smidgen of dope" or having just a "few stacks of hundreds " in cash. Gonna raise the eyebrows of any customs agent. Americans never seem to learn other countries don't have our "Lib/Prog" government mentality for casual visitors. IOW, FTFR ! Don't know them ? All of them ? Don't go ! BTW, pretty much the same rules apply inside the environs of Washington, D.C. >MW Last edited by millwright; 07-21-2011 at 03:30 PM.. Reason: Clarity |

Come on this is just a little over the top. Jailed for a bullet in his backpack?

He was going to throw it and kill 40 people!
I keep my butt off airplanes, and stay right here in the good ole U.S.A.! I have been to Canada, and Mexico in the past, but have no intentions of going to either country again. If I was 21 and set out to see all the things in this country, I wouldn't live long enough to get the job done! Why go somewhere else! Stay here, and support your fellow countryman!

I wouldn't mind visiting Jack in Australia and learning a few things, but other than that, if I can't drive (armed), I ain't goin'. Except for those states, of course, where it's illegal for me to have my 2nd amendment rights and travel with a weapon in my vehicle, in which instance I would never, ever do such a thing....

I would like to visit Jack too, too bad I couldn't take my Remington 14. He said that they're illegal in some places there.

This is the kind of thing that causes me a combination of concern and amusement when people post on a gun site that they want to travel all over the world and ask what kind of gun should they carry. People try to tell them that even if somehow they got the gun on an airplane and out of the U.S. they would almost certainly be imprisoned or even executed in any other country just for having the gun. The response is always that they have a CCW permit from Utah or Texas or some place, and that makes it legal to carry in Ghana or Kenya or England.
Then the ninnies start to rant about Second Amendment rights, never mind that the U.S. Constitution doesn't apply in Africa or Asia (or some American states). Then some fake "veteran" chimes in with how he carried a gun at the Marne, on D-Day, in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan (he would have to be about 120 years old) and he has the right .... blah, blah. I never know whether to laugh or cry. Jim |

Y'all don't get my wrong, there are a lot of places in this old world I would love to see, but the price is just too high in our currant World Political arena. I would love to go to Isrial, but I would probably join their military, in what ever capacity they would have me, and never come back! I don't care what the rest of the world says, or does, where Isrial is concerned, I will stand with them, and for them!

Moral of the story, if you are going to fly DO NOT USE YOUR RANGE BAG!
If you have had ammo in your range bag it will most likely set off explosive detecting machine or tip off the cop dogs. If you are going to Mexico I wouldn't even want a spent shell casing in your vehicle or anywhere around. One bullet, one trip to jail. Don't get me wrong I feel bad for this guy, but you have to know the laws of where you are going. Same thing applies here in the States too, like Juker pointed out. Ignorance of the law is never an excuse.

Where's the common sense? I made the mistake of going into Rocky Flats(Federal Nuclear trigger facility) years ago in my personnal vehicle on an emergency repair call and the security guys found a spent .22 casing on the floor boards, probably from someones boot lugs. They tore my truck apart searching for the gun, even though I had been there dozens of times and had even discussed firearms and hunting with one of the guys(who was present during the search) on several occassions. The idiot in charge said to me" We have evidence you've been in the presence of firearms". To which I replied," Yeah, well, you realize this IS America, don't you?"
They even removed the liners in the doors and the back of the cab wall, do you know how hard it is to replace those properly?

Along with all that TSA groping of one's privates - before long they'll have everyone stripping down and flying in hospital gowns. More uber-reactionary B.S. One shoe bomber, and billions of people are having their shoes checked. One underwear bomber, and loose the hounds to legally grab your junk.
Nossiree, I'll pass on that particular invasion. Maybe airlines could just post a "Fly at your own risk" disclaimer...

DD I dont know now much International travel you do from FL, but I can tell you that bringing a Weapon, of any kind, is a major offense in Mexico (and having grown up and lived in border states all my life, it's of particular interest to me!)
There was a case when a guy from AZ was arrested in Mexico and thrown in jail, for having a single spent cartridge in his trunk. He was jailed, not charged, he was not allowed what we would call "due process" here in the US, and I was a spectator to the entire thing! one of his best friends worked next to me, and I heard the daily phone calls... getting this guy food, pressuring the consulate, talking to private attorneys... it took MONTHS!!! and this is our ally, Mexico, in the early 90's... and wasnt even a gun or loaded ammo. TWICE... I've accidentally imported ammo into Mexico without even realizing it. Once it was in my travel bag, I had 2 speed loaders with hydra-shok and somehow they mysteriously vanished while I was taking my morning swim in the ocean, the other time I was riding with a buddy from work and he realized he had maybe 20 - 50 shotgun shells in his truck toolbox and we were already past the point of no return to the US... I said "just play it cool, let them look wherever they want to look, act like we have nothing and we're happy to be here spending money and chasing girls" and once we got past border inspection we radioed our buddies in the other cars and pulled over in the middle of nowhere and promptly removed about 40 felonies from the vehicle. DO NOT think that our "rights" apply anywhere else. You will be sorely mistaken. |
