A FRAIL 89-year-old World War II veteran who lives alone on a rural property has lost an appeal to keep his firearms licence.
Richard Neil Hawkins told the Administrative Decisions Tribunal that he had used his guns to eradicate myna birds from his garden, and he planned to use them to put down his two ageing horses "when their time came".

a member of the greatest generation denied the right to own a .22 rifle? that pisses me off it makes me remember squirrel hunting with my own grandpa with an old winchester 190... its a sad state of affairs
