If you added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states, you
could form a striking conclusion: There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin . Allow me to restate that number. Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. More men under arms than in Iran . More than in France and Germany combined. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed. That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 'S 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. The point? America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower. Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security. ************************************************* That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed. Food for thought when next we consider gun control.

China's army is well over 4.5 mil and they're not hunters, they soldiers and equiped and trained as such. I agree with you though, with our armed citizens and the best military on the planet, we'd be hard to take.

Just these sheer numbers alone is the EXACT REASON for the Second Amendment, and why it can serve as such a deterrent to tyrannical government.

okie .......
"China's army is well over 4.5 mil and they're not hunters, they soldiers and equiped and trained as such". I met that army, in Korea, they are not to be ignored, but, they are a herd ( not an army ) .... and in many cases were not even armed until they picked-up something on the battle field. I'll bet on our people every time.

I'll bet on us everytime too JohnHenry and I'm sure you know what you're talkin about (thanks for your service) but...from what I understand, the modern Chinese army is nothing like what you faced in Korea. They are a much much welthier nation now and I think we should always respect thier shear numbers in a possible conflict and of course thier neuclear capability and lack of respect for life in general. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything but they are still a big concern to me. And while I'm at it on a different note, I think Pootin (sp?) is still one of the most dangerous men on the planet....too much power for one man. The Russian govt are simply his puppets and he's very intelligent. Damn, I'd hate to see the Obamination have to face him down, what a joke that would be.

There's not going to be 4.5 million Chinese running around Wisconsin, Michigan, or West Virginia. It would be easier to get at them if they did come this way, but if China does any invading, it's going to be Taiwan. Still you make a good point. If OUR government switched the Constitution around, then we will need all those hunters. TJ

Sorry, but I always have to bring this up when China's army is mentioned as an invading army here. Just HOW will they get here? Check it out, they don't have the navy or transport for it.
Any good Commander will tell you it's about logistics, and the Chinese couldn't move even 1/8 of that Army.

They ain't gonna get her by road. By sea? By air? They don't have the support for either venture. China is not our enemy. Russia is not our enemy. That leaves a few choices, and our own government is involved in all of them. Illegal immigration Terrorism (Patriot Act) Socialism No child left behind Class warfare Destroying the Constitution Any of the above is a serious threat to our freedom. And we are facing ALL of them at the same time. Take care when you vote. Our country depends on it.

I sure hope you guys were'nt reading all that into my posts. I never said anything about envasions or enemies just stateing my concerns and trying to point out in my own stupid way that over confidence is probably responsible for more defeats than anything else in history and history books will give you example after example of this. We may very well be...no...we ARE the hardest on this planet to defeat right now, but I assure you, we are NOT undefeatable.
okie PS. If China and Russia aren't our enemies, what exactly are they.... allies???...neutral??? Surely you jest. We have very few true allies.

I agree with you guys but our enemies dont need ANY "transports", come on! We're flying them in here by the hundreds if not thousands on our own aircraft (and ships). Thats not to mention the fact that they can just simply walk across our borders. Of course there's not gonna be any 1940's style invasion, this is 2011. We're being invaded as we speak and they didn't have to build one transport to do it. Oh, and our big bad malitia cant fire one shot to stop it.
okie

Chinese Army, Cartel, Street gangs and an unarmed population in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. Why is this scary. California for all its problems is still the worlds 7th or 8th largest economy depending on whose numbers you read. Just shy of 15% of the USA's total economy is in California including a good part of our military facilities, transportation hubs, electronics industries, food crops, etc.
Yet our civilian defense force is in the Midwest and deep south. We are vulnerable in ways that scare the gee whillickers out of me because the screaming radical faction of the liberal left are bound and determined to finish making California a sanctuary state for all those opposed to us and to finish taking away the constitutional rights of Joe Average Citizen. If we get invaded it will be a quiet whimper instead of a bang and the east coast ninnies will throw themselves on their faces begging to be subjugated while us ruffians with our guns and bibles will be effectively cutoff from the economy of the country. Our guns and ammo supplies won't count for much if we don't get off our 'couch potato duff's' and cast our ballots for right thinking candidates.

East coast ninnies? I hate to tell ya this but the folks in my county won't back down an inch. Especially all my dis-located cheesehead freinds. You gotta remember, there are some well reared boys down here from spooner, ladysmith or maybe even my hometown, columbus. On a side note I can't wait to see my PACK make scrambled eggs out of those carolina pussycats

Everybody keeps wanting to push Chicago into the lake or break off California and dump it into the ocean but I have lived both places and most people are not anti-gun or uber liberal. Unfortunately they have given up and either vote the way the Unions tell them to vote or they stay home and the loud squealing tree hugging, lead banning save the animal types win the elections because they DO show up at the polls. Remember it wasn't 52% of the eligible voters that voted Obama into office, it was 52% of the people who actually voted. Once again the silly crowd got out the vote and Joe Q citizen sat in front of the TV with a beer, chips and dip watching the voting results wondering what the hell just happened. What happened is he didn't vote.

I can see a time when a large segment of middle America pretty much becomes a separate country !

Maybe the hunters wouldn't make the best invasion force themselves given a lack of organization. But they know the land, know their equipment, know how to sit still, and move quietly. Doesn't sound like people I'd want to have to invade.
But as others have said, that's not the first way they'd try. Last edited by Prizefighter; 09-17-2011 at 03:30 PM.. |
