Throwing knives - The Firearms Forum

My uncle just started throwing knives as a form of fun. I'd like to join with him and learn how to do it, but every throwing knife I find feels like a cheap flimsy junk that wouldn't stick into a wet paper bag, much less a target. The only ones I have found that feel sturdy are the Hibben ones, and they seem pricey for a knife that I am gonna toss around a lot. Are their any others out there that are worth having?

i got a set of these , Aussie made $39 a pair

they'll take a silk as well if you wish and they have small arrow head wrist throwers that are made for silks as well

but was getting good with these ( same maker ) until i moved and lost em somewhere , i'll find em one day

Have you looked at Cold Steel's throwers? http://www.coldsteel.com/trueflight.html

I've got a couple. "Flimsy" is definitely NOT the word to describe them.

Last time I went to SMKW (only a hour away from my home) I Only saw the hibben knives, some spikes made by cold steel, and the rest of the stuff they had was junk.

he does a great battle axe too i have it on my belt , 2lb's even plus shaft

TAKE A SILK means will take a tail , take a 1/4"-3/8" wide fine silk ribbon , bout 2-4 inches long and tease the ends out some so they are single strands and loop through the handle of the knife you can throw a modified Hatzugi style and concentrate on power than aim and flick as the ribbon will fly the knife after 2 1/2 turns

i'm pretty good with a issue Kbar but its all practise ..

they'll be in a box in a box SOMEWHERE .. same with lits o stuff , will get there ..

Interesting. I've seen Chinese knives with tassels on 'em. Never occurred to me that they might work like the tail on a kite, for throwing. Always just thought it was decoration.

Not much but this is a small part of my collection not including darts and shuriken. One hawk is missing along with a smaller set of knives but this gives an idea of what I do for chuckles and giggles. You are pretty safe if I toss a knife in your direction but axes are a whole nuther ball game.

The thick brown handled hawks on the right are cheap Paki made but they throw just fine. The Hibben knives throw real good if my brother or sister throw them, me not so good, gotta be a problem with the knives.

Heck, you usually jack up your first set, so get a decent set of cheapies first...
THEN, after you figure out what you like to see in a thrower, get the more expensive stuff.

Start with a set of BudK Kunai's...and work your way up.
