Re: Winchester Riot Gun Times Two
BM1313, I have a story similar to yours. I picked up a Winchester Model 88 in 308 several years ago for about the same cost and later added a Leupold for $100. It's from 1959 and I really like the gun - very well balanced. I wouldn't consider giving it up without a real good reason.
Yes, it does have a kick to it, but mine does have a butt pad, though I have been "scoped" by it with the older scope (not the Leupold) that was on it when I got it. The pad is original to the gun and will eventually be replaced. And, though I don't hunt right now, the Model 88 would definitely be one of my choices depending on what is being hunted.
I am loading up 308 for this gun right now and am looking forward to getting to the sweet load.
