Thats some gorgeous work there! Beautiful craftsmanship, and the fit/finish looks to be second to none!
Stunning presentation on that wheel gun! Great piece of functional art Jack! |

Really nice work. That would look good on my Ruger Single-Six 22.My grips are original from 1981 and are looking a little dried out.I need to replace them or treat the wood with something.

i've bought the pair of 1858's both the pistol and carbine ( carbine i'm waiting on )
i really want that black finish , the tigerwood and some highlighted engraving on both i've a bandoleer so i can carry 4 loaded wheels and spare balls powder and caps and acts as a holster for both pistol or carbine and i plan on adding the BP Earl from NAA when that arrives , and that, will be "the Kit" catalogue pic of the pair |

Tasmanian Blackwood Beth,
heres how it looked when i got it he's cut it at a angle so the grains show and end and stained and polished it beautifully Last edited by jack404; 10-27-2011 at 01:13 AM.. |

i have asked for the blanks to be cut 8" x 2" x 1/2" they normally cut the wood for pen blanks and make $100 + pens from it
if another size would be better let me know .. you can buy this type of wood and others now in the US a bloke there has teamed up with folks here http://www.hearnehardwoods.com/index.html Last edited by jack404; 10-27-2011 at 01:54 AM.. |

Blueing , i'm well known for traditional finishes rust browning and blueing , colour parkerising is what i do best.. i dont do wood , metal i can make sing , wood i make scream ..
Pete at horsley park gun shop has a mate who does class work too but his touch with wood is brilliant , i send my stuff to him.. checkering repairs etc , the stocks i make are from jigs i have had made... do this cut with this head, that cut with that head , monkey see monkey do ... then sand oil and polish http://thegunsmiths.com.au/ i've had them assemble some high end units for me not the cheapest , not the dearest either but you get what you pay for 9743-7328 they are at sefton not far from auburn Last edited by jack404; 10-27-2011 at 05:37 AM.. |

Jack, I hadn't been on the forum much lately due to some other issues so I just now noticed this thread. Boy those are some beautiful grips. The wood I am not familiar with by that name, but it sure looks like Hawaiian Koa. It has almost the same holographic look as the Koa.
Really nice workmanship, thanks for posting.

Some cool wood grips I have come across:
![]() Not true wood but you wouldn't know if someone didn't tell you. These are Rogers Combat Grips on my dad's (RIP) Model 10-8 S&W ![]() Again, not wood but VERY unique and cool stagg horn grips! ![]() ![]() |

Jack - of all the photos posted in this thread I like the first photo you posted the best. The grain is so unusual - it really sets it apart!
