Default Got seduced

Winchester Model 12, 16 gauge. About 70% blue, smooth as silk, not much wear in the action, good wood, springs strong S/N 44xxx (1926?)

$300 out the door.

My older book rates 70% in 16 guage at $175. I would wait for those in the know. There has to be a better answer.

I'm pretty sure I'm paying more than absolutely necessary, but I've wanted a 12 in 16 for years (decades.) It came in when I had a little money in my pocket and I got tripped, pinned and counted out.

That happens to me on a regular basis.

But I figure if it's what I want and I'm not plannin' on sellin' anytime soon(or ever),then what difference does it make?

I'm happy.That's all that matters.

Actually,Mod 12's in 16 ga don't come around every day(at least not around here).I think ya did good.

BTW--Unless you left off one "X",that would be 1914.

Hello Pops,

You didn't mention whether it has a ribbed barrel or not, or how it is choked (both of which a factors in the value). I agree with bobbywins... 44x,xxx is correct for 1926 and for it being marked "Model 12", but if your new toy is actually 44,xxx, then it should be marked "Model 1912", and it will have a short 2-9/16" chamber in it.

$300 is a very reasonable price for a 1926 vintage plain-jane 16 gauge, and would be a real good bargain on a 1914 vintage gun. If your gun has a solid ribbed barrel, then you got it cheap!
