On a S&W revolver rear adjustable sight blade that is black, is it possible to either insert a pair tritium dots, one on either side of the notch or to insert some type of white plastic dots, etc. Not looking to paint the blade or for a white outline sight put a 3 dot sight picture. S&W doesn't offer an option. Does nayone know of a gunsmith capable of doing this and if so who is it? Thanks.

Tritium inserts require more depth than the thin blade on a smith. I've added white dots on them before, requires a plunge cutting end mill

Thanks for the reply, not being a gunsmith, or machinist, can you briefly describe plunge cutting and what you used for a white dot?

Jon, Check with Brownells to see if they carry the sight blade you need with the white outline around the notch. Be sure to measure your sight blade to get the correct height. They cost less than $12 and may cure your problem.

True, Sam has a good suggestion. They do make a white outline rear but in order to remove the original the windage screw must be twisted and broken out so get the kit with the screw

I will check Brownell's book for an aftermarket company. The issue is the rear sight on the S&W J frame is .086 high and the two S&W factory w/o sights are .146 and .160 high, so factory won't work.
