Arrow Silvey Knife

This was given to me in the early 80's.

It is overall 18 inches long. The handle is a 6" Stag.
On the top of the blade is an inscription that says " G. Silvey, 1974"
The Brass hand guard has a tiny Heart shape cut all the way through on both sides.

I found a G. Silvey knife maker on the web, he said he didn't make it. That's all I know about it. ( It's obviously hand-made )

If anyone can provide any info about the knife, I'd appreciate it.

If I were him, I wouldn't admit making it, either.

That was input.
Perhaps the guy DID make the knife. Perhaps he has developed as a maker over the years. I know there are a few out there that I made that I wouldn't want to admit!

Actually a rather good looking example of a American style rifleman's knife from the pre-1840 period.would suggest you check with re-enactors in the area, also check with any S.C.A. chapters.Other than the guard being a bit long(most were either shorter or absent entirely) a pretty good and well shaped tool/weapon.The chisel style bevel is making a comeback on big knives, folks with more than half a brain have started to recognize that something this big really shines when there is weight and strength enough to chop with it.

Thank you dd. This knife is originally from Ky / Tenn. Thanks for providing a starting point rather than those

I like the looks of it, that's why I'd like to know more about it. May be hard to tell from the photo, but the scabbard is excellent.

The person who gave it to me died in his private plane, at which time it took on a whole new meaning to me.
