Default Re: Scope bases

now youre just repeating what Im saying...

Back on post #12 you said your .308 is flatter at 400 yds than your 7 mag and it is that way because of the way you have the scope mounted and skewed. Thats why were having this discussion now. I figured you meant its that way becasue you have to compensate less for the distance, but you worded it in a way that most would think you have found some magical way to defeat the laws of physics.

I replied to what you were trying to say in post #15 the way i did to give me some time to research it. I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt before dropping fact bombs on them. I understand that some folks feel cornered when I do that, but im not trying to corner anyone, Im just trying to explain the way it is, the way it always was and the way it always will be.. At least until the technologicval advances of mankind develop a device that can turn gravity and atmospheric resistence off. At that point a .22LR will become the worlds most effective long range weapon.

The latest caliber or gear is no substitute for experience and skill. Rifles and cartridges don't make hits -- shooters do.

I never thought that anyone thought I was saying you can change the flight path of a bullet by manipulating a scope, rings, or bases. I thought I had made it plain that I was talking about perceived trajectory, or the amount of come up you have to make to hit your target. I am 100% confident that if one goes and plays with external ballistics software long enough they will agree with me. The only thing I do not fully understand is how cant simulates height above bore.

It simply changes the point of intersection of the line of sight and the bullets trajectory the same way.
