I thought Chicago became crime free when Obama established gun control in that city?

WPage,
May I also suggest a narrow scope motion detector on the exterior of each of the walls of your home. Align the detector so it picks up movement 3 feet above the ground and only 1 foot away from the wall of your home. That way it will not pick up dogs and cats, but it will set off an alarm to wake you up if someone is attempting to enter your home through a window. This is in addition to a security system inside your home. The motion detector allows an extra few seconds to prepare before the house alarm is set off.
Wireless motion detector's are cheap on Ebay, and you can set the receiver that holds the alarm next to your bed.

I got my wireless system free! Protect America, in Texas, is giving them free to those that want them. You have to install them your self, but they are wireless, how hard is that! I got the Bronze package, 7 entry alarms for windows, and doors; a motion detector, and the key pad that plugs into the phone line.

5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest.

Didn't or doesn't work. The bleeding heart judges don't have the guts to make it stick.

There was one case where a guy had two strikes for assault and battery and then the third for armed robbery and murder. The judge told the jury to disregard the first two convictions. Go figure.

I fully agree! Might work in a few other cities also.

didnt the handgun ban just get lifted in chicago and D.C.? a fella at work told me this.

as far as fighting off the ghetto goes. leave a watermelon on the kitchen table to distract them while i reach for the SKS and 40 round clip by my bed. and those folding stocks make a long rifle a mean sucker for clearing rooms. even though my SKS is obviously semi-auto i would still like to think i could clear a room of half a dozen thugs without taking a scratch. no worries about getting shot by these guys. they cant even properly hold a handgun, let alone aim properly

Most gangs just fight with and attack other gangs. The biggest thing that fuels these gangs is the illegal drug trade, just as it was with alcohol in the USA in the 1920s.

Even most typical uneducated gang members have enough sense to know that hurting or killing ordinary "civilians" will bring a lot of heat down on them. I think it's pretty unlikely any ordinary homeowners are going to have to defend themselves against a gang of invaders.

Anyway, the best solution to eradicating or reducing gang activity will be to end the prohibition on drugs. See Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) at http://www.leap.cc/cms/index.php

My definition of a gang must be different than yours. I consider 2 or more people intent on doing an illegal act against another person a gang. A lot of home invasions are done with 2 or more people.

Most of the criminal element in our society don't worry about LEOs and the heat they bring. Many are so strung out on drugs that they don't think of anything other than how to get their next fix.

You are entitled to your opinion but I totally disagree with legalizing drugs.

I am serious the whole state is basically like that except for some of the really rich areas but anyway my dad was still prepared he had a sig p226 with these hallow points in it that when they hit the target they exploded into a ton of pieces so they didnt go threw walls. Idk what they were called? but anyway he had a plan. But when I got out of high school he moved to Vermont an my mom is in Oregon and i have a couple months till I go to basic and move up to Oregon so I stayed down here to be with my girlfreind an friends but I am staying with my friend sean at his apartment.
His apartment is in N palm springs gateway which is the worst area of palm springs.

The police are worse out here sometimes then the thugs...
I carry right now a cheap smith an wesson extereme ops blade but its ALWAYS on me
but I am so scared and night I have my shotgun by the bed every night and i Sleep on the couch by the front door an the only window in the whole place
and every night at like 1130 when i get off of work i have to walk with my 4000 dollar macbook pro across the dark parkin lot past a constant gang party across the way and thugs I am freaking out I have no where else to go I just need to wait it out till october 4th when i ship out But I have had some close calls already HELP

Simple, 4 1911's, a Ruger Vaquero, a Beretta 92F, and a Tanfgolio (sp?) 9mm. Plus an AT 22 with well over 2K rounds, and a 30-30.

Why didn't our community leaders think of that? Superior Marms would make all the difference!
Here's a very good resource, written by a guy who has come through the whole mess in Argentina:
http://www.survivalblog.com/
It can also be very informative to study the situation in S. Africa, and how people are dealing with that. Imagine that you are sitting at a red light, stuck in traffic on all sides. Suddenly, the front passenger window shatters, and you're staring at a gun. Then wut?

I'm glad I live in TN hills. Low crime and lots of neighbors with guns. If I lived in the city I would hank an empty sack of tin cans on the door knobs at night. That might give me time to get the glock from under the pillow. World is definitely going to hell in a hand basket.

Default Classical Music

Believe it or not, some cities have been broadcasting Classical music in the Subway stations and this has caused gangs to avoid those areas. Phychological Ops, even paint the walls certain colors and patterns affects people's moods.

Hmm...........Well when a city like Chicago needs help from the National Guard, I'd say the death penalty for just being in a gang. This would be on the grounds of Domestic Terrorism. Your either with us or against us. If you can't behave yourself and be an upstanding citizen its goodbye for you.

Having a light on your weapon makes you a prime target for the bad guy to aim at;hit the light, hit you and probability in the head.Leave the light for the writers of gun articles that have never been in a real firefight with someone trying to kill you.

The U.S. declared war against foreign terrorists, is it too out of line to think that they should declare it against the domestic ones running through our streets and across our borders? Less trials more bullets and put the innocent first. JMO

Due to the windows my house it is not that defensible. Even the walls won't stop much. I do have guns stationed around the house for easy pick-up and two dogs for an alarm system. And I also have an impractical wife who thinks self defense is silly and lives somewhere other than reality in her mind. So, we have been very lucky to date to not have any incidents.
But, the drive by shootings are on the increase. That appears to be our major problem.

I do think that a pump 12 gauge is a great item for self and home defense. But not the best in close quarters. So, a back-up would be called for.

When in your car at red light, stay back at least one car length, always and everywhere. If you can see the side of your car in your door mirror, it's turned too close to the car. If someone jumps in front of your car with a gun, run over them.

Always park under a light when shopping at night. Back into a parking spot if available. When coming back to the car, if not armed, have longest key sticking out between your index finger and middle finger. Go for the eyes or the dimple at the bottom of the neck. Keep doors locked at all times.
