In 1952 Walther entered into a licensing agreement with Manurhin, Bourtzwiller, Mulhouse, France. Walther was just coming out of WW II and had moved from their original location in East,Germany ( ahead of the Russians ). Walther was in a place called " between a rock and a hard place " in regards to equipment and cash. Manurhin made the guns, shipped them to Germany , either in parts or completed, Walther inspected them, did any required finishing, proofed them under German law and roll marked ( etched rather ) their names on them. From 1952 until 1984 all Walther PP's and PPKs were made in France, even if they are considered to be made in " Germany ". Manurhin was also allowed to make and sell their version under their own name. You do not have a Walther PP, You have a Manurhin PP. Same gun, same equipment used to make both Walther and Manurhin guns, but still yours is labeled Manurhin and normally worth about 15 to 25 percent less than if it had Walther's named etched on the slide. Post war, made between 1952 and 1984.

Manurhin in France basically picked up Walther pistol manufacture under license from Walther after WW2. The original Walther factory was in East Germany, from which Carl Walther had escaped, and West Germany could not manufacture firearms since they lost the war. So, Manurhin was licensed to produce the PP and PPK pistols from around 1952 until 1986.

Walther did establish a factory in Ulm, Germany c.1957 but interestingly enough the guns were still largely made in France. Final hardening and finishing of the slides were conducted in Germany on French-machined parts, which were rollmarked as Made in Germany. Interesting partnership between Manurhin and Walther in those days.

Your gun was imported by Century Arms International. They imported quite a few of these which had been surplussed by various police agencies in Europe. Does yours have any markings on the front grip strap? If you provide the serial number we can help date it.

We see these offered at $400-$450 regularly but they don't actually seem to sell at that price. $375 is probably more realistic.
