Default Belgian Copy OF S&W, .44W

Anyone know anything about these? I picked it upo and assume it's 44-40. can you shoot modern ammo? The gun itself is tight with cosmoline coming out of the hammer and frame area.All comments appreciated, Thanks, BB

If it's 44-40 it should be marked 44 WCF. It could also be 44 Russian or 44 S&W. I wouldn't think it would be smokeless proofed but maybe somebody else knows for sure.

It very well could be 44 russian. Can you find a serial number on it?
