I have a S&W Model 59 9mm. I am looking to purchase an extra magazine. I see one advertised for a model 5900. Will this magazine fit the model 59?
Any help appreciated.

yes a model 5900 mag will fit a 59. they are all the same. the local gunsmith had a few model 59 mags last time i was there. i think 10 or 15 dollars
dunno what price your looking at for the mag. you might look at a place called summit BrandX .com the guy sells police trade ins and often times the mags are inexpensive |

Thanks John - I appreciate the info. This one may be a little tricky for me as I am in CA and apparently prohibited from purchasing any magazine that holds more than 10 rounds. Not sure if anyone is making a 10 round mag that will fit the model 59.

Best thing you can do in November is Vote Repulican.
Until you get enough Repubs in Cali to change some laws, you guys are totally screwed.

I also have a S&W model -59.I found a magazine at a pawn store in North Las Vegas about 6 months ago, it was a ten rounder. They joked about it and said it was from the Clinton era when they limited capacity. It was old but like new and I've used it once.I have 6 more high capacity mags for mine.Four of them I found at gun shows.I only paid $10.00 for it.As a good deed to a fellow Model-59 owner 10.00+ 6.00 with return conformation you recieved it,I'll let it go.PS,can anyone answer can I ship a ten round mag.to California with no problems? Leave a responce if this helps you.I'll contact you on members list.

Mec-Gar makes fine magazines. I have several for various guns and they work perfectly.
Midway has them (10 rounder) in stock: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...tnumber=258375 LDBennett |

In case you are wondering, the holsters for the model 5900 will fit also. I purchased a Serpa Blackhawk rated for the 5900 that perfectly fits my Model 59. Full retention and never any problems not locking or getting stuck.
