I've been following a local story here...
http://mynorthwest.com/11/597355/Vat...very-a-miracle From reading most of the comments, I haveta wonder what's wrong with people! ![]() What is it, and why are people so BENT on dissing those with Christian values? I'm not gonna give any Muslims any slack, and the Krishnas used to bother me at the airport. Other than that, what's the big deal? ![]() Many of you know I'm of my own beliefs, and they are well grounded (in my opinion), but really? Why all the hate? I'm trying to figure out what it is that scare the crap outta people, that makes 'em go nuts when the topic arises. Is it ignorance? Fear? A testosterone issue? Your thoughts? Please don't give me the 'I'm right, yer wrong' arguement. Your opinion is no better than mine. I can live with a lotta other belief systems, yet some cannot live with any of them. Why is that?

hahah ME, huh? ex ME here, i do have a BSME but quit as a career long ago...
Bob, many Christians like myself believe we are living in the 'end times'... this is a time of increased moral/spiritual darkness, but also increased light... there will be no in between, you will be either for the darkness (by default in many instances) or the light... the evil forces propelling the darkness will influence those under their power to hate Jesus Christ and those people who love Him... this is called the 'anti-Christ spirit' and it is increasing all over the globe... there will be a day where Christians are mortally persecuted for their devotion and love for Jesus Christ, you see this in some parts of the world already, but it will be a world wide practice... people don't hate Tebow, they hate the righteousness of the God he loves, the darkness hates righteousness... I am constantly involved in internet discussions impinging upon religion, and find it extremely common for lots of people to attack any and all religious belief. The natural human being does not want to claim dependancy on anyone but themselves, and for this reason they flock to Naturalism and oppose Christianity.
The old commercial where the lady screams at her mother "Please, mother, I would rather do it MYSELF!" has a real ring of truth in it. And the current love affair the entire nation is having with the Muslims while continuing to attack Christians shows that Tim is right also. While rejecting all religion in general, folks are PARTICULARLY hostile to Christianity.

Like it or not we are all in a so called holy war. Right down to the individual.
Everyone picks a side no in the middle. Choose wisely, who are you going to serve today? The devil hates you and only wants to use you. He could not give less of a damn about you.

+5. And amen.
It is God's will that "none should perish" in hell, but the Word of God tells us that's precisely where billions of unsaved souls are headed. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was documented by Jews, Gentiles, Romans, and Greeks. He came to earth to give us His Father's teachings, to show us how we should live, and to offer us eternal life in Heaven. All He asked in return was that we believe in Who He said He was. Then He died an unimaginable death on a cross to pay the penalty for the sins of all humans. Debt paid in full - believe and be saved. It always seemed so outright simple to me, this incredible grace. I've never understand the mentality of the unbeliever. Who could possibly reject such a gift? There is no compromise with God, no deals to be made, nothing we can put on the table to make the "deal" a bit more humanistic. I don't understand the hate, but it's not my role to argue for God. Anyone seeking the Truth will receive it. I don't understand why the world thinks Muslims are the "in" crowd when their unholy book teaches of segregation and persecution and murder - when the Bible says all are welcome, love thy neighbor, honor your parents, treat others as you would be treated, don't lie, and save sex for marriage. I guess that's just too much to ask for a lot of people.

Jack is right on here. Socialist and Muslim agendas. If you say something against them you are ridiculed as being extremist and anti muslim etc and of fear mongering. Thus, we tend to ignore their activities. All the while the Country is moving in that direction without opposition. If we do not wake up soon it will be far too late.

I tell it to my study group this way...
People love to be in *denial* of truths they don't like. Example: If I see a guy I haven't seen in 20 years, who I served in the USAF with, and he says to me "Newberry? Is that you? You look like you done gained about 80 pounds since I last saw you!" Now... I get miffed at that. Am I miffed because it is wrong, or because it's the truth. Ahhh... yes, it's the truth, but I did not want to face it. What if a guy goes around telling everyone that they'll have to be obedient and pay homage to the Great Pumpkin or else they'll die and go to veggie-town and never have any candy in eternity? We laugh him to scorn. We don't get mad--we laugh! ![]() So why do reprobates get mad when Jesus Christ is proclaimed? Because God has written His laws on their hearts, and they know the truth already! See Romans 1. They are without excuse. So what you're doing is the equivalent of calling them fat when they know they are. You're disrupting their denial of a truth they know, but they wish was not so. Now... if you're not angry at the Gospel of Jesus Christ being preached and proclaimed, then maybe you're one of His. Think about it. ![]() Dan |

I have found that I do not hate anyone. A long time ago I found out that it is a lot more work than I am willing to put into it to hate some one. It maybe that I am just lazy.
Don't misread what I am saying here. There are people that I don't like very well. But hate is a very strong negative emotion that can rot you from the inside out. |

I agree Jacksonco -
Hating a person is WRONG, no matter who it is. We are to hate SIN yet love the SINNER, as Anita Briant was crucified for saying. Now, there ARE people who I will spend little energy on, because experience has shown me there is an EXTREMELY low chance of changing them, and my time is better invested elsewhere. Anti-semites, for instance, almost NEVER change their belief. You can present them with absolute evidence that completely dispells one of their claims, and they will simply shrug it off and come up with a brand NEW claim for you to waste time refuting. It reminds me of an incident that happened a few years ago to an Assembly of God pastor that lives near us. He was out doing lawn work, and was hunkered down weeding a flower bed behind a row of shrubs in his front yard, completely hidden from the road. Two Jehova's Witnesses were walking down the street, going from house to house in their evangelistic outreach. He heard them talking quietly as they walked past him on the other side of the hedge. "Aren't we going to stop here?" "No." "Why not?" "They are Assembly of God. You can't teach those people ANYTHING!" There are groups I feel that way about. Better to spend time on those that you are most likely to reach. Am I relegating those other groups to hell? Not at all. I would think that an anti-semite, for instance, would be better witnessed to by a former Neo-Nazi than by me, so I focus on those that I am more likely to reach; atheists and agnostics with a scientific leaning, for instance. And drunks.

^^^ wow! look at how opposite those results are... you are either for what Tim Tebow represents or against, not much middle ground at all...
I really think people hate the righteousness that TT represents, and he makes them feel guilty and uncomfortable with their own immorality and unrighteous life styles... i think this pole is really revealing, as we progress here over the next few decades there will be no middle ground at all, and most will be overwhelmingly against the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ... |

IMO. People tend to hate that which they don't understand. Those who hate Christianity, hate it because they are insecure in their own beliefs. If they can convert just one person to their point of view then their beliefs are vindicated. They cannot be secure in their belief if someone else is secure in theirs. I cannot be converted because my belief in God is extremely strong, therefore those who do not understand my beliefs hate me and would destroy me. They may destroy my earthly abode but they can never touch my heavenly home.
