Old horse gets new shoes

This old Colt Official Police has had rubber grips since I bought it about 10 years back.
Run across a set of nice wood grips and decided the old horse needed new shoes.

DAMN, I still say there is nothing more graceful than a 41 frame Colt, and while they look great with ANY kinda handles, those are especially attractive with the lite wood and dark grain.

I`m kind of fond of this size Colt myself. Have accumulated several over the years.
2 other Official Police aside from the one above, a Python, an Officer`s Model Special, an Army Special, a Trooper Mk III, and a Lawman Mk III.

Nice Colts Windy, I have an OP like yours that I also put wood grips on but they are not near as pretty as yours. Those are really good looking. While some of the Colts are getting very pricey I think a lot of people are passing by the service revolvers which are really great shooting guns.

I keep getting that "moth to a flame" thing happening when I log on! I cant keep myself from looking at this fantastic looking "family." I used to have many more Colts than I do now; divorce dont ya know. These are just simply put, some of the most beautiful, smooth action, accurate, serviceable revolvers ever. I think a lot of people dont completely appreciate the basic, "bone stock" Colt Official Police 38 special revolvers; they are very under appreciated in my opinion. The same is true of the Police Positive Specials. I think most shooters recognize the Python for the work of art that it is, but frankly, I think all the OP series (41 frame) revolvers are all equally graceful and magnificent. If you hold in your hand, or take out and shoot, an OP, or an Officers Model Match or Target, of a Commando, or a New Army/Navy (which actually proceeded the production of the first OP's), as well as the Python, Trooper, Lawman, Marshal, etc. you just seem to FEEL the fit, and the smoothness of action, and the balance. Its hard to describe, until you handle one. There's nothing wrong with a Kframe, or a Ruger Six, but DAMN, those Colts.................Ahhhhhh.

SHEP! Thats just plain CRUEL! Now I will have to spend HOURS staring at this thread, Mister. Sheeeeesh.

I only own one New Service any more, and two Positives. I sold the others years ago. I do miss my 1903 production 7 1/2 .38-40 New Service, that I purchased from its original owner, who happened to be 91 at the time! I also sold a REALLY purdy New Navy 4 1/2 inch .41 too. Does anyone have a crying towel you can lend me? Shep? Its ALL YOUR FAULT!
