I just recently bought a Rock Island 1911 5" barrel and was wondering what type of holster that yall use to conceal carry.
Thanks Mark

I use a don hume leather belt holster and a real thick leather gun belt. Without a good thick belt, it wont matter what holster you use, the gun will flop around on you. So, spend the extra cash and get that belt and then get a holster that will not flop around.

I am considering a shoulder holster now though since I seem to carry more in the car than anything.

This one. The most comfortable holster I've ever worn.

Living in Arizona, 80% of the time it's shorts & t-shirt. I've had to experiment a lot to find the perfect holster for both winter and summer for conceal carry of my 1911's. I ended up with an Uncle Mike's Sidekick in size 36. I simply cut away a few threads to widen the bottom opening for the barrel and now I have the perfect holster for both of my 1911's. Fits on my regular dress belt, holds firm and close to the body with no flop around, and very comfortable. Seems a shame to leave my good leather in the drawer, but hey, Uncle Mike's works better, and it's "concealed".

+1 on the Don hume and the belt.

I carry a Milt Sparks' Executive Companion with one of thier belts. It's an IWB holster. Good leather. My first one was fit better than the last one I ordered, but it is still molded for the gun and it may just be the differance in the shape of the gun. The second one is not for a 1911.

I prefer a "slide" holster for my 1911 - but it requires something long enough to cover it since most of the length extends below the belt.
