I just had to post this picture the customer made of the grips on his Kimber. He takes a lot better picture than I do.

Here is a couple pair that rolled out of the shop today. One is Black Paper Mircarta with Gold.

The other is Olive wood with Marine Globe and Anchor.

This is a material I am new too. It is a knife handle material called Majestic Marble. This material is called Texas Tea. They have several different colors. It works really well and looks pretty good. It's just not wood.
Give me your thoughts.

Josh, this Texas Tea sorta looks like those old knifes that used to be around when I was a kid. They call it Celluloid or something like that, you could pick from a bunch of colors. Anyway this material is man made and is works more like fiberglass than anything else I can describe.

Also while I have your attention Josh, I was talking to a certain Mod the other day and it was suggested that a repo might be in order on the Corian if some progress is not reported real soon. (you know we were kidding). Just joshing the Josh.

Now this is wood.
This is Kingwood. I have never used it before, but really like it. One of our members made a real good choice when he choose this wood. I am going to order some more of it to build some grips for inventory. Let me know what you think.

First Paduak I have ever delt with, had to wear mask. This stuff burns my nose something aweful, so it has got to be toxic. Any way you look at it though it is a beautiful wood, little hard to finish but once there it really pops. What you are seeing on the grips is camera reflection, these grips are as smooth as glass.

Just shipped these to a customer and got a confirmation that he has them. The fit was perfect and He is going to order another pair for his compact. These grips are made from AZ Desert Ironwood Exhibition Grade.

You have just cost me a lot of money.

The grips came in this afternoon and I love them! "Unquote"


This is one of the few quotes he had. He is going to take it to a friend of his and have him to continue the badlands texture around the MSH in front. I am really anxious to see this. It should look great.

On his new order he had this to say.
(Another Quote) Take your time. Someone once said that you could have good work or you could get it quickly, but you couldn't have both. I'll stay with the quality work you do.

Hadn't posted a lot of pictures lately, thought ya'll might be getting tired of seeing them. I have a few that I like really well and will post a few of them as we go along. These are made of Paduak and the cross is made out of some scrap Ivory that was laying around the shop.

Those are really nice and I love the wood and love the inlay of ivory as well. I've done inlay
work before, but to do in on such a "small scale"... blows my mind to think of the precision
that goes into that!

Well looks like I have got hung up on that Ivory cross. Here it is again on Mesquite. Look at the beauty of this wood. Rarely do I see Mesquite this nice. These 2 sets came from the same chunk. I think I will try to find some when I go to TX this week end. The reason for the cross is that I made 4 of them at the same time since I had the Ivory already cut to the right thickness. I just could not leave them laying around ya know. If I did that, they would get lost.

I really like the grain in the Mesquite wood! Almost looks like a "light" Walnut grain wood.

Here is a set of custom olive wood I shipped today. The customer did the spelling for me, it had some special meaning to him. I cut the lettering and then outlined it in a darker tone. Looks pretty cool to me.

I had almost forgot to tell y'all that I am now geared up to build custom grips for the new 1911-22. Seems like there is no one building wood grips for this gun. 2times shoot sent me his original grips and I built him a set. Then using his original grips I built a jig for the screw hole pattern and the size of the grips. So if anyone needs a pair or information on how to build them, just let me know.
