S&W is bringing back the 586 and being offered in both six- and seven-shot models. It unfortunately has the stupid lock, but it has wood stocks and its a nice looking piece anyways! I already have a 586 no dash but I might get the 3" 7-shot L-Comp model with a Front Ramp Tritium Dot Night Sight.

I know they make the 686 still but I love the look of a deep rich blued gun. My older 586, no dash:

Me too. The bluing looks a mile deep on the old smith 586s.

What's the going rate to be on these? I'm about ready to get into a centerfire revolver. Got one in .22 that I really like.
BTW, awesome guns all of the above. I am truly jealous!!! |

The expected in-store price is supposed to be around $600 to $700.

You can luck into an older 586 for around 450 bucks when you find them. I paid 425 for my silhouette model.
Right before the Shop closed up late last month stu has 2 586s, a 4 and a 6 inch for 400 each. I had a hard time not buying the 4.. And now wish i would have..

Love the front sight on your 586. I passed on a 8 3/8" 29 with the same sights. I kick myself often for passing that one up!

Yeah those adjustable target cams make all the difference. I can sight this wheelie in for a center hold at 4 separate distances and all i gotta do it turn the cam.

When my son, now 21 years old started to enjoy shooting the .357 mag I decided to buy the 6" 686 so I wouldn't risk scratching up my 6" Colt Pyhon. Well I can kick myself for not buying more Smith revolvers over the past years, they are great guns. Going to a gun show tomorrow here in Penna and I'm going to look for a K22 if I can find one at a reasonable price. The black on a Smith is great but the Royal Blue on my Python is absolutely priceless. Happy shooting.
