Nice guns I wish I never got rid of the one I had but instead of paying 500 dollars for a used one in the US I would buy a brand new RIA.

I love my Rock Island but the Norinco is forged from better steel than Colt uses. They were the favored platform for many a custom builder before they got banned.

If you shop around you can find them for around $400. If they have been coustomized, the price will go up! My avitar is a Norinco Jim Clark special. But since Norinco can not import to the US any more, these guns are only going to go up in price.

Good solid mil-spec 45's, great platform to build a custom gun on.

$500? Nope. Before I would pay $500 for a Norinco, I would toss
in another C note and buy a STI Spartan.

It had something to do with them selling to unauthorized countries or something. It resulted in two Executive Orders banning their import.

Does the ban on Norinco apply to SKS carbines also?

I don't know, but given the politics behind the bans, I would suspect that all Norinco imports are banned (or at least were).

All Norinco guns are banned from importation to the United States. Thanks Bill Clinton.

I have two Norinco 1911's government and commander size. I paid 500$ and 450$. This is in CA so you do pay a premium somewhat. I see them sell on auctions 300-500. Both of mine were almost new in box. They are a good gun to customize on better than a RIA or a basic Springer.

I had a chance to buy a Wilson Combat Norinco built gun but the deal couldn't be made

Norinco is one of the few 1911's that Wilson Combat will do custom work on.

Although I've owned several that were tack drivers after some custom fitting, I've always had a problem with the stamping on the slide. So, the last one I built, I removed it.

The ATF and other law enforcement agencies caught Norinco personnel smuggling full auto AK 47's into the U.S. In addition, Chinese companies have disregarded patents of other manufacturers. They have violated other agreements as well. It wasn't just Clinton, Bush had a hand in that also. You can read more about it here:

Bush Ban on Chinese Imports

http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/...7/133053.shtml

It wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit to completely disengage all trade agreements with them, not pay back the money we borrowed and the heck with Wal-Mart.
