accurate xmr 4064 powder for 308 - The Firearms Forum

I have very limited load data for this powder.

150gr fmj in 308 do any body have load data for it?

accurate x-truded 4064.

I dont know if you can use 4064 imr data in place of it????? I was taught to never do this so i am asking.

no, its a different powder. Dont use IMR 4064 data. Some of the older accurate manuals might list it but im not sure.

Let me dig thru my data sheets. i might have data for it.

ive searched i still cant find anything.

but i did find something that leads me to believe that accurate powder has something to do with wolf ammo company same thing with ramshot. I believe they are all in the same. Not 100% sure but that is what it is looking like.

I looked in my AA reloading manual from 1994 and 4064 is not listed there for 308. I looked at the AA arms reloading data web site and there is no 4064 for 308 loads shown there either. The powders AA chose to show for 308 are faster burning powders typically seen for smaller cartridges. The 30-06 loads include slower burning powders (4064 is included) but of course those loads can NOT be used in 308.

In brief, AA believes 4064 to be too slow for 308, is my guess. I think you should abandon any plans to use it in 308 cases. Experimenting with powder loads not in manuals is too dangerous and not safe at all unless you have the measuring tools manufacturers have in their ballistics labs.

thanks i think i am gona save this powder for 7mm08 which they do show data for.

this powder is 7% slower than imr 4064. i dont see why it cant be used i am just not gona look any more. after a day i am done, switching gears to another powder

Shows its more towards 30.06 territory. But you might be able to find data in their older guides.

Well i talked to someone at western powders and they told me to get the 150gr bullet up to a good velocity i would have to compress the charge and i am not into that so i decided to use ramshot tac instead.
