Anyone know the average weight of a 7.62x54R empty with primer?

The cases seem to vary depending on the brand. I've got some primed winchester brass at home that I can weigh if that's what you've got.

mines not win chester i do know that the head stamp is 10/55 thats it

I think it's Bulgarian there was a lot of that ammo manufactured in most Soviet Bloc nations. Here's a site that specializes in the cartridge and shows examples. Click on the country and see if you can track yours down.

It kind of sounds like you are trying to determine if there is propellent in the cartridge. Did you or someone else reload some cartridges and maybe forget to add powder or are you concerned maybe there's too much? If that's the case, the safest thing to do is pull the bullet and weigh the powder if you can identify what type was used. Otherwise discard the powder and reload using correct type/weight.

they are empty shells with spent primers. Im looking for the weight so i can get an estimate on shipping i have 33 in total im sending him. im trying to figure out if a SFRB would be cheaper than a standard box by weight

lol sadly i have no scales in my house lol. i thing i might just boxem up and take them into town one day that i can make it in and then see how much it will cost me.

A Russian steel case, primed, weighs 157 grains. 157x33= 5181 grains. One ounce is 437.5 grains, so 33 cases would weigh about 12 ounces.
