My grandfather gave me this bayonet. It has a few serial numbers on the bayonet itself and the scabbard.

It is indeed the standard Mauser bayonet but K98 refers to the rifle rather than the bayonet...
Your bayonet is either the M84/98 Type II or Type III- I can't tell from your pics. If you could send some close-ups of both sides of the ricasso (blade next to the grip) and the scabbard markings we can narrow down the ID, eh? Where are you in Michigan? Got family there.... |
